Republic Day at adopted School

The Rebublic Day of India was celebrated by the club at our adopted Govt. High School,Vasco.

The Club distributed SSCE preparatory Journals for Xth class students of the school spending more than Rs. 16,000/-. Rtn. Ashwin Vora contributed Rs. 5000/- for this noble project.

International MG Project

Our Club is the International Partner for Rotary Club of Napoli, District 2100 for a training programme to provide trainers and a PC equipped with a special software that allows to read all what is present on the monitor including texts, command or picture description for 15 blind men and women in Naples, Italy.

The Project shows our willingness to partner for projects outside our community and use our resources to do humanitarian work Internationally.

Annual General Meeting

The AGM of our Club was held on 28th November 2008.

Rtn. Servulo Barros the President-elect announced his key members of the board.

Rtn. Sanjay Satrdekar was elected as the President Nominee for 2010-11.

Cervical Cancer Detection

Our club is looking for International Partner for a Matching Grants Project of around $ 12,500.

The project is to install a video colposcope in a hospital catering to poor patients in the port town as well as use the portable equipment to carry out camps in various towns and villages in the state of Goa.

Goa is considered as the cancer capital of India with about 700 cases per million of population. The lifestyle of the women in a state where almost 40% of women are unmarried even at the age of 40, makes them at risk for breast as well as cervical cancer. 

TRF - The joy of Giving

Rtn. Vinay Pai Raikar, IPP of RC Panaji Mid Town was the Guest Speaker on TRF.

Dr. Vinay as President has the record of the highest ever club contributions to Annual Giving with over $ 100,000 collected in a single year by a single club. This was incidentally almost half the total District annual Giving for 2007-08.

He spoke of how he motivated the members to give, starting with himself... and how they responeded

Rotary Club of Dabolim, Goa

Our Club has sponsored a new Rotary Club in the suburbs of our Town.

The Charter of ROTARY CLUB OF DABOLIM-GOA shall be received soon and Dinesh Heda shall be the Charter President and Amit Bandekar will be the Charter Secretary.

First Ever Matching Grants Project

We have submitted our application form for our first ever Matching Grants project complete with all signatures of the Partners to TRF on 13th November 2008.

Asha Deep Special School is a School for the Intellectually Disabled Children. It is located at Headland Sada, Mormugao, Goa and has about 140 students from Mormugao Taluka (20 kms radius). The School is run by an independent Trust and has been serving the Community for over a decade.

Children's Day

Children's day was celebrated at the Club with a fancy dress competition.

Rtn. HAJI RAZAIO HAJI REHMAT, from Malysia attended the Club as a visiting Rotarian.

Spelling Competition

Rotary Club of Vasco da gama organised a All Goa Spelling Competition on 31st August.

picnic

Todays picnic at the Coconut Creek was a smashing,oops.. , a splashing one. With a turmout of nearly 20 member including family members, the childrem specially had a good time. We missed all those who could not come and have now decided to have a trek next month with Nilesh leading the way. Thanks to Santosh for the idea and to Madhav for the fellowship. Only regret that Sandesh escaped a dip in the pool.
