Tejendra's Acceptance SpeechSubmitted by tejendra on Sat, 12/07/2008 - 14:50 |
Chief Guest of todays function Rtn. Dr. Jorson, our IPP Rtn. Dattaraj, AG and my dear friend Rtn. Reagan, Innerwhell President Mes. Ritu Trehon, fellow Rotarians, guests and friends.
With the blessings of Shree DevkiKrishna, my mother, my Guru, all the Rotarians of my club and wellwishers, I stand before you as the 43rd President of our Prestigious Club.
I am proud to bring to the kind knowledge of invited guests and prospective members, that ours is one of the oldest clubs in Goa having being chartered on the 2nd of dec 1966. The objects of Rotary)are ingrained in us specially so with the presence of our charter member Rtn. Umekaka. Rotary clubs throughout the world conduct t various projects for the service of the respective communities around them, pulse polio being one of the noblest and widely reached. Rotary has given us the priceless treasure in the form of the four way test, a guiding force that has personally been the motivating force behind my actions and which I wish to propagate in the coming years.
RI PresidentDong Kurn Lee has given us the task of “Making Dreams Real” by reducing child mortality. His inspiring words and I quote “ We must provide hope and a chance at a future for all children, both in our local communities in communities far away, because without Rotary, children’s needs are going to be unmet everyday. This is why I am asking everyone to use the knowledge acquired in recent years working with water, health and hunger and literacy to do the most good we can to improve the lives of children around the globe and inspire other Rotarians to do the same” I unquote, are the guiding principles of our service for the year ahead. Though Goa is fortunate to have a good track record in managing publichealth, hunger, literacy, safe drinking water, our club shall endeavour to reach out to those who are less privileged. I have to mention here that we are presently in the process of acquiring a school bus for the specially challenged children of Ashadeep school.
The district Governor has desired that we stress upon 6 priorities and goals in conducting ourselves namely:
1. Simplicity,
2. Transparency,
3. Making rotary less expensive,
4. Equality among all,
5. Time management,
6. Use of new technology
The Rotary club of vasco is geared up to fulfil this desire and we have the distinction in Rtn. Prakash Saraswat who is Dc- promotin of new technology. Our website rcvasco.org is already up and running and is contributing in satisfying three of the six goala laid by the D.G..
Actions are louder than words they say and one year down the history lane will speak what the Rotarians of Vasco have Given to our community and to their respective selves. I thank all my fellow Rotarians of our club for this wonderful opportunity of being of service. My tryst with destiny begins with the good wishes that Rtn. Santosh conveyed on his and his family’s behalf early today morning and also with the profound words of Confucius “ Worry not that no one knows of you, seek to be worth knowing” .I thank you all for encouraging us with your august presence.
