First Ever Matching Grants Project

We have submitted our application form for our first ever Matching Grants project complete with all signatures of the Partners to TRF on 13th November 2008.

Asha Deep Special School is a School for the Intellectually Disabled Children. It is located at Headland Sada, Mormugao, Goa and has about 140 students from Mormugao Taluka (20 kms radius). The School is run by an independent Trust and has been serving the Community for over a decade.

Description of Project: Almost half the students use public transport to come to school. This causes great hardship both to them as well as their parents. By having a dedicated School Bus about 70 to 80 students (in 2 trips) will reach the school comfortably.

Community Participation: Rotary Club of Vasco da gama through WCS and/or a Matching Grants project provide for the FULL cost of the School Bus. The School Authorities will bear the operational and maintenance cost for the School bus, by charging a reasonable fee from the students using the bus. The project will self-sustain after the bus is provided.

The primary International partner is Rotary Club of Cottleville/weldon Spring, District: 6060 and additional funding from our District 3170 DDF as well as Districts 6840 and 7340 from USA.
